The
New River, one of only ten National Heritage Rivers
in the United States. 37 miles of the famous New River
wander through picturesque mountains and valleys of
Giles County.
The New River is one of the oldest rivers in
the world. The river originates in northwestern North
Carolina, cuts across southwest Virginia, and flows
onward into West Virginia. The New River lies on the
southeastern edge of the natural range distribution
of walleye.
Rich
Creek, Glen Lynn and Narrows all offer boating access
to the New River.
